NEMB Conference Begins April 19

NEMB Conference Begins April 19 NEMB Conference Begins April 19 NEMB Conference Begins April 19The ASME 2015 4th Global Congress on NanoEngineering for Medicine and Biology (NEMB 2015), to be held April 19-22 in Minneapolis, Minn., will focus on nanoscale materials, methods and devices for the study of biology and the treatment of disease. More than 300 people convened in San Francisco for last years meeting and conference organizers expect this years event to attract an even bigger crowd. The conference will feature presentations from a number of number of experts from the NEMB field, including Rashid Bashir of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Shuichi Takayama from the University of Michigan, Lihong Wang from Washington University in St. Louis, Paul Weiss of the University of California, Los Angeles, Denis Wirtz of Johns Hopkins University and Susan Wolf from the University of Minnesota. The nearly 40 technical sessions will be grouped into several tracks, addressi ng the areas of nano-imaging and nanophotonics nanotherapuetics nano- and microfluidics nano-to-macro multiscale modeling nanotoxicology and public health in the environment biomimetic materials and nanoscale analysis of living systems. The program will include more than three dozen keynote presentations, featuring researchers from prestigious universities as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Duke University, Northeastern University, and the University of Minnesota, among many others. The conference will also feature five tutorials on April 19 An Insiders Guide Opportunities for Underrepresented Minorities in Todays Challenging Funding Climate, Cancer Bioengineering and the Tumor Microenvironment, NIH/IMAG Workshop Tools, Challenges, and Opportunities in Multiscale Modeling of Fibrous Tissues, Publishing and Scholarly Communication in Nanoengineering for Medicine and Biology and Translating Inn ovation from the Lab to the Marketplace Crossing the Valley of Death. Scheduled speakers for the tutorials include Bevlee Watford from the National Science Foundation Behrous Davani of the National Cancer Institute Paolo Provenzano of the University of Minnesota Taher Saif from the University of Illinois Robert Griffin from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Sinan Keten of Northwestern University Vivek Shenoy from the University of Pennsylvania Michael Sacks of the University of Texas John MacDonald of Ridge Road Consulting LLC and Jianping Wang, Rick Wagner and Steven Koester from the University of Minnesota.NEMB 2015 will feature two tours of the University of Minnesotas Minnesota Nano Center (MNC) on April 19. During the tours of the state-of-the-art nanotechnology RD center, visitors will be able to enter the clean room and learn about the work going on within the center, including fabrication of microdevices, making and analyzing nanoparticles, and developing new b iological and medical applications of nanotechnology. The tours will be led by Jim Marti, senior scientist and outreach coordinator at MNC, and Steve Campbell, director of MNC.For more information on the ASME 2015 4th Global Congress on NanoEngineering for Medicine and Biology, visit www.asmeconferences.org/NEMB2015/index.cfm.
